IN JUNE 1985 RIGHT AFTER GRADUATING OF UNIVERSITY OF ARTS WILLIAM QUIGLEY HAD HIS FIRST EXHIBITION SHOWING 5 ABSTRACT WORKS WITH ANDY WARHOL'S "IMAGES OF A CHILD'S WORLD" PAINTINGS  AT HENRY MCNEIL GALLERY IN PHILADELPHIA. MCNEIL IS ONE OF THE TOP ART COLLECTORS IN THE WORLD. FROM 1985-1990 SHOWED IN GROUP EXHIBITIONS AT MCNEIL GALLERY WITH JEAN MICHEL BASQUIAT, DENNIS OPPENHEIM, ALICE AYCOCK, JULIAN SCHNABEL, CHRYSTOF KOHLHOFER, PAT STEIR, DAVID SALLE, RICHARD ARTSCHWAGER, WILLY HEEKS, BARBARA KRUGER AND KEITH HARING.
1990 QUIGLEY MOVED TO LOS ANGELES AND MET MANNY SILVERMAN GALLERY.  THROUGH THE GALLERY IN NY 1991 MET ARTISTS ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG, MICHAEL GOLDBERG, ED RUSCHA, ED MOSES, SAM FRANCIS, JOE GOODE, AND WILLEM DE KOONING, HIS FAVORITE PAINTER. IN 1991 WAS SET UP TO PAINT WITH JOAN MITCHELL AT HER STUDIO IN GIVERNY, UNTIL SHE FELL ILL IN 1992.  THAT YEAR HE MET FERRAN CANO AND ERNST BEYELER SHOWING IN ART BASEL 1992. CANO SET UP A RESIDENCY FOR A YEAR PAINTING AT THE MIRO FOUNDATION IN 1992-93. HE RETURNED TO LA AND OPENED AB GALLERY ON IN A2 MINI MALL LOCATIONS ROBERTSON AND HOLLYWOOD BLVDS. AFTER YEARS IN LA RETURNED TO NYC IN 1999 SETTING UP A STUDIO IN THE GIANT CHELSEA  STARRETT LEHIGH BUILDING, TRIBECA AND THEN SOHO FROM 1999-2012.
BECAUSE OF DE KOONING'S INFLUENCE ON HIS WORK AND BEING TAUGHT BY QUITE A FEW ARTISTS WHO LIVED AND PAINTED IN THE HISTORIC EAST END, SUCH AS LEE KRASNER, SHEILA ISHAM, JANE WILSON, BILL KING, ROBERT BLACKBURN, LAURIE ANDERSON , ALICE NEEL,  WALTER DARBY BANNARD AND ART CRITIC CLEMENT GREENBERG. ALL HAD A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT THAT DEFINED HIS EARLY INTEREST IN AMERICAN ABSTRACTION.  AFTER PAINTING IN NYC, LA , BOSTON, ITALY, VENEZUELA, SPAIN AND INDIA, AND A DESIRE TO EXPLORE THE HISTORY OF EAST HAMPTON, QUIGLEY EVENTUALLY LEFT WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY, AN AMAZING SOHO LOFT IN 2013.  ON CRAIGSLIST HE FOUND A FORMER AUTO MECHANICS GARAGE BUILT IN THE 70S, ON THE  120 YEAR OLD PROPERTY OF SCHENCK FUELS ON NEWTOWN LANE. SINCE THE MOVE, EVERY SUMMER HE CURATES EXHIBITIONS IN THE STUDIO WITH ARTISTS HE THOUGHT WERE DOING GOOD WORK.
'OH FATHER' WAS COMPLETED ON HIS BIRTHDAY APRIL 29, 2020,  2 DAYS AFTER HIS THE DEATH OF HIS FATHER. ALSO WILLIAM, WAS  A VERY DEVOUT IRISH CATHOLIC, WHO WORKED HIS ENTIRE LIFE IN THE AUTOMOBILE PARTS BUSINESS OCCASIONALLY TAKING HIS 2 YOUNG SONS ON DAILY DELIVERIES TO LOCAL SERVICE STATIONS. HE FOUND IT NO COINCIDENCE AND SPIRITUALLY SATISFYING HIS ARTIST SON WAS NOW PAINTING IN A MECHANICS GARAGE OFTEN QUOTING "SEE HOW THE LORD WORKS SON."  IN HONOR OF HIS FATHER, HE MOVED STUDIOS AND DECIDED TO CONVERT THE SPACE INTO AB NY GALLERY. AB WAS ORIGINALLY OPENED IN 1994 IN A LOS ANGELES MINI MALL. IT CLOSED 2 YEARS AFTER OPENING BECAUSE  MOST OF THE ARTISTS WERE PICKED UP BY MORE ESTABLISHED GALLERIES.
